Koh Phangan Fullmoon Party - Special Tips You should know

KOH PHANGAN FULLMOON PARTY | Special Travel Tips
Although Koh Phangan is indeed a very safe place there are few important pointers to bear in mind when visitings.

Drugs
There is a zero tolerance policy with regards to drugs from the authorities. Huge fines or even worse long time imprisonment awaits the unfortunate. We urge you to simply stay away from drugs.

Motorbikes & Driving
You guessed it: most accidents on motorbikes stem from intoxicated parties hopping on a moped and crashing shortly afterwards. Having said that, some roads are less than ideal so we urge you to keep in mind to go very slow, use low gear when going uphill and to remember that driving is on the left.

Be careful getting off the bike as not to burn yourself on the exhaust.

Trekking & Rock Climbing
Koh Phangan is a big island and we do not recommend you to go trekking or rock climbing without a guide. It gets dark quickly and you wouldn't want to get caught far into the mountainside not knowing where you are or how to get down.

Theft
There is relatively little problems with theft on the island, but should it happen simple venture down to the police station near Thongsala to get a report written so your insurance will cover it.

Keep a few easy steps in mind: always leave your valuables in the room safe (if possible) or with the resort's reception. Close windows and doors properly and don't tempt anyone. Should you get unlucky, then please keep in mind that the most likely suspect is another traveler.

Night Party Tips
- Take your passport copy with you, and keep original passport in the resort’s secure safe.
- Do not bring your valuables to the party. Thousands people are there, you'll never catch the thief.
- At the party, you may forget or lose your bags, so it’s better if you leave them at the resort.
- Bring enough money for the drinks and keep it attached to yourself.
- Take the resorts details for contacting the resort in case of emergency.
- Wear shoes to protect your feet from broken bottles but do not wear the expensive ones.
- Take good care of your camera, you're not gonna lose only the item but also memories of the good time.
- Keep away from DRUGS, no matter what anyone says. Someone might try to sell them to you but remember DRUGS are ILLEGAL in Thailand and VERY STRONG PENALTIES.
- Do not eat or drink anything that is offered by strangers.
- If you don't plan to stay up all night at the party, you are advised to stay in bungalow facilities outside Haad Rin (unless you think you can sleep with that very loud party noise). Besides, there are more than hundred bungalow places to choose and you can go back to your bungalow anytime you like by all night taxi service

Fullmoon Party is organised in every famous beach around Thailand such as Koh Chang, Koh Tao, Pattaya etc. But if you want the original version, Koh Phangan is your choice. There are about 10,000-20,000 people every month at this Koh Phangan beach party.

International and Thai DJ's are making the crowd go wild. Paint yourself in UV colors and let your body lose control. The DJ's play all kinds of music; techno, trance, goa, drum n' bass, dub, reggae, "commercial hits", house etc on about 15 soundsystems along Haad Rin beach. There are also many small tables on the beach where you can sit down with your friends or meet new ones from all parts of the globe. You can order drinks and food from the restaurants and the bars next to the Had Rin Nok beach.

In Koh Phangan there are various full moon parties, so on average there is one about every ten days. The big one is the full moon party which is held on Haad Rin's Sunrise Beach. Then there is the half Moon party (I haven't been to that one though) and finally there is the Black Moon party which is held in the middle of nowhere and you will need to get a taxi or something. The black moon party is one that you have to pay to get in, I cant remember exactly but I think it cost some where between 200 and 500 Baht, with this you also get one free drink. The party is small and its a fairly mellow party. The music was slow so I found it really hard to dance to. Every time you need the toilet you have to pay, its not much but if your drinking a lot 20 baht every five minutes soon mounts up! The drinks were quite expensive so its cheaper to get buckets, a bucket consists of half a bottle of vodka or whiskey and mixers and is served in a small bucket with straws – its best to share with someone was the Thai Whiskey and Redbull is lethal (Thai redbull is very strong and is illegal in most, if not all, western countries!) The party didn't have much of a vibe to it so I got bored about 3am and went home. It was no way near as good as the full moon party and I would have had a better time if I just stayed in the bars in Haad Rin.

DRINKS, DANCE AND HAVE FUN!!
